Winferd Gray, 82, R. 1, Milton Junction, died Monday, Sept. 16, in Mercy Hospital, Janesville. In failing health for the past year, he had been a patient in the hospital for the past two weeks. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the Albrecht Funeral Home, The Rev. Earl Cruzan, Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Milton Lawns Memorial Park, Janesville, with Lee Scoville, Stanley Hergert, Len Dangelo, Kenneth Slowey, Warren Spangler and H. J. Wright as pallbearers.
A lifelong Milton area resident, he was born in Milton Junction Oct. 27, 1885, the son of Chauncey and Elmina Monroe Gray. He was married to Myrtle L. Dorn Sept. 5, 1918 in Rockford, Ill. and the couple farmed their entire married life. Mrs. Gray died March 18, 1954.
Surviving are two sons, Ralph and Robert, both of the Milton area; a daughter, Mrs. Wesley (Virginia) Hare, Whitewater; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle McWilliam, Milton. Preceding him also in death were two brothers and one sister.
