On 24 February 1206, King John I of England confirmed Sir William de Barry in the possession of the territories of Olethan (north of Cork), afterwards ‘Barrymore’; Muskerry Donegan (near Baltimore); and Killede, and, by letters patent, conferred on him the Lordships of Castlelyons, Buttevant and Barry's Court in East Cork.
