Facts and Events
Research in Buckinghamshire parish records has fleshed out the family although not all persons have been accounted for. It appears this branch of the family originated in the village of Padbury. Oldest known ancestor at this time is James Willmore, b. bef 1724, d. 15 Sep 1765 in Padbury. Other spellings used in the county of Bucks include Wilmer, Willmer, Wilmore, Wilmor. The variations in spelling MIGHT indicate lines of descent, with various families adopting and sticking to a certain spelling, but coming from a common ancestor. Buckingham is a town (and parish) in the county of Buckinghamshire. As its name suggests it used to be the county town, but its situation in the north of the county led to it being replaced by the more central Aylesbury. Civil registration of births, deaths and marriages started in England in Jul 1837. Records available prior to that are church records. From another researcher There were no Willmore's in the Buck Polls. There were Wilmor/Willmor families living in Padbury near Buckingham at the end of the 18th century, and one William Wilmor who was a watchmaker at Olney in the N of the county. Suggest you may want to search records for Padbury as a most likely source for the family.
