Williams, William - born 9/17/1757 in Fairfax County, Virginia; entered service 1780 in Botetourt County, Virginia, where he resided, in Virginia regiment, & served at Battles of Camden, Guilford Courthouse & Siege of Ninety-Six; resided 1817 in Greenbrier County, Virginia, thence to Ohio, where granted Pension 1832 in Gallia County, resided in Walnut Township; died 8/23 1832; married 5/21/1795 to Mary Watts at the home of her father, Greenbrier County, Virginia, by John Alderson per certificate 1853 by County Court Clerk Joel McPherson; widow granted Pension age 73 in Gallia County, Ohio, 1853, resided in Walnut Township; eldest child born 1796 & 2nd child born in 1799; son James resided 1850 in Gallia County, Ohio; Josiah W. Williams (no kinship given) in 1855 there; David Watts (no kinship given) made affidavit there then age 65 that he was at soldier's wedding; soldier's widow granted Bounty Land Warrant #11166 there then age 78; query letter in file in 1902 from Violetta Allison, Jennerstown, Pennsylvania, says soldier's widow died 1860 in Patriot, Gallia County, Ohio; query letter in file 1924 from Mrs. Zelda Allison Gates of Shelbyville, Indiana; query letter in file in 1922 from Mrs. Letitia Allison Reed, Boswell, Pennsylvania; query letter in file in 1923 from Miss Violetta M.     WILLIAM WILLIAMS-William Williams entered the service from Botetourt County, Virginia in the spring of 1780. He was under Col. Campbell and they joined the troops at Hillsborough, North Carlolina on the day that Col.Green took command. He served eighteen months before he was discharged. He was in the battles of Camden & Guilford and at the Seige of Nine-Six. He served wholly in North Carolina and South Carolinas. He sold his discharge to Samuel Price and William McClung for four or five gallons of whiskey. William made application for his pension 13 Aug 1832 while a resident of Walnut Township,Gallia County. His claim was allowed.

    William was born in Fairfax County, Virginia 17 Sep 1757. He enlisted in Botetourt County and lived in Greenbrier County, Virginia until 1817 when he moved to Gallia County, Ohio. William married Mary Watts 21 May 1795 in Greenbrier County, Virginia. She was born 20 Nov 1779 (20 Sept 1776 in Maryland) in Greenbrier County, Virginia and died 25 Dec 1860 (25 Oct 1860) in Gallia County, Ohio. She made application for a pension 13 June 1850 and it was executed. William died 23 Aug 1832 in Walnut Township and is buried at Bethesda Cemetery, Walnut Township, Gallia County.
