William S White -- from memory he is a seed merchant ( I will try and find more details to confirm that). He lived from 1857-1940. He was elected councillor of Lincoln City in 1901, and was Mayor from 1908-1909, and from 1924-1925. I imagine that he lived in Lincoln for some years before being elected but cannot be sure of that. Many others of that generation became shop-keepers, including George Patchett White, and his son John Hobson. William S White was quite unlike any other Whites that I have seen photos of -- chubby with an olive complexion, and a fine moustache.
