Mr. William Russell Wallace, a resident of Jackson, Tennessee and father-in-law of the late Duane Taylor of Somerville, died Friday morning, Octover 1, 2004, at the Jackson-Madison General Hospital in Jackson. He was 89 years of age and died following a brief illness. Funeral services were conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday at the Campbell Street Church of Christ in Jackson with Ray Hawk and Billy Ringold, officiating. Interment was in the Vista Memorial Park Cemetery at New Albany, Mississippi. Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home of Somerville was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wallace was born November 3, 1914, in Tippah County, Mississippi, the son of the late Thomas Luther Wallace and the late Florence Etta Jones Wallace. He was the husband of the late Marie Montgomery Wallace who died January 31, 2000. Mr. Wallace was a grocery merchant throughout much of his life and formerly operated businesses in Ripley, Mississippi and in Mantachie, Mississippi. In later years, he served as a security officer for the Federal Reserve Bank in Memphis. Known for his positive attitude and caring heart and love for his fellow man, Mr. Wallace's favorite was "Everybody is somebody" and he truly believed and practiced the Golden Rule throughout his life. He received great pleasure in sharing candy with children and adults. Mr. Wallace was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and is survived by his daughter, Ann Taylor Woods and husband, Tony, of Jackson, Tennessee; his son, David Wallace and wife, Vernita, of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Casketbearers for Mr. Wallace were grandsons and the family request that memorials be directed to the Campbell Street Church of Christ, 1490 Campbell Street, Jackson, TN 38305. References
