    W "Neal" Waggoner, 91, formerly of 1409 McPherson Blvd, died early Monday morning at Countryside Continuing Care Center.

    He was born in Lindsey to the now deceased Alfred and Emma (Conner) Waggoner. He married Ruth C Durnwald on Oct. 22, 1942, in Paris, TX. She died Aug. 2, 1999.

    He served as a captain and company commander with the U.S Army's 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division during World War II. He then transferred to the 90th Infantry Division and landed on Omaha Beach in 1944.

    Mr. Waggoner worked for the Howard Zink Corp. for 38 years, the State of OH Title and Deed Office and was the accountant for the Sandusky CO Sanitary Engineers Office.

    He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Elks, Moose, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Sandusky CO Historical Society, St. Joseph Boosters and the Sandusky CO Farm Bureau. He was a past board member and founder of the Fremont Federal Credit Union and past board member of the United Way and the draft board, each for 20 years.

    An avid sports fan, Mr. Waggoner coached Little League for many years and most of all enjoyed bowling, baseball, fishing and golfing.

    He is survived by daughters Mrs. David (Marsha) Winters of Fremont, Mary Lou Koch of Largo, Fla, Mrs. Paul (Brenda) Branco of Westchester; sons Wm ( Melody) Waggoner, Patrick (Cindy) Waggoner, Thomas (Carla) Waggoner and Richard (Melody) Waggoner, all of Fremont, James (Sara) Waggoner and Michael Waggoner, both of Lindsey; and 30 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded by brother Conner Waggoner, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

    Visitation: 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home.

    Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, St. Joseph Catholic Church.

    Burial: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

    Memorials: St. Joseph Central Catholic High School or the St. Joseph Boosters Club.
