He fought with "Mad Anthony Wayne in the Battle4 Of Fallen Timbers. They moved to Cincinnati, where he met Mr. Durst (Darst), a neighbor from Delaware, who was living in the Spanish lands (now Missouri.) He was talked into moving his family out to the west. In 1790 he was living in Mills Station, Kentucky. (From Kentucky tax list.)

  Note from Louise Conner: In the mid 1760's the family moved to the Monangahalah for two years. Then "in the hottest of Indian Times" moved to Kentucky.  Along with two other families, they embarked in a flat boat for Limestone, which is now Mason County, Kentucky. This family also lived in Cincinnati, Delaware and Mills Station, Kentuck (1790). William Van Burkleo Sr. is said to have been an army spy. After William died in 1803, Marie married George Gatty.
