Obituary from The Augusta Chronicle, Jan 27, 2004: William Bernard "Bernie" Tullis AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. William Bernard (Bernie) Tullis, age 84, very beloved husband of Ruby Tullis, married 63 years, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on January 24, 2004 at 9 p.m., at his home. Mr. Tullis attended Martinez Bible Chapel and was very faithful to his Lord, attending all meetings when able. He dearly loved his family and was a true friend to all who knew him. To know him was to love him. He was gentle, kind, considerate, and a true southern gentleman. He was a wonderful, loving, and caring husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. He was a World War II veteran who served ten years in the U.S. Marine Corps with service overseas and stateside. He retired from Civil Service with 35 years service as the Foreman of the Heavy Equipment Engineering Dept. at Ft. Gordon, Ga. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ruby; two sons, Will Davis (Billy), Charles Randall (Randy); daughter-in-law, Deborah (Debbie) Tullis; three grand daughters, Cristal Renay Tullis, Brittany Amanda Tullis, and Buffy Marie Hendricks; three great granddaughters, Savannah, Michelle, and Katie Hendricks; three brothers, Lamarr Tullis, Terry Tullis, and Kenny Tullis; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 2p.m. Januray 28, 2004 at Elliott and Sons Funeral Home at Lumpkin Rd., Augusta, Georgia. Henry B. Crees officiating; burial will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27th 2004 at the funeral home.
