Facts and Events
[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 5, Ed. 1, Tree #1545, Date of Import: Nov 11, 1998] William Triplett, born ca. 1730 in Prince William County, Va. His father patented 505 acres of land in Penn., William County. Later Fairfax County was taken from Penn., William, then in 1757 Loudoun County, was taken from Fairfax and the property on Goose Creek lay in the new County. William was a younger son, but no doubt helped with the work on the farm. In his father's will, probated 1758, he and his brother, Daniel, were to split 305 acres between them. He was married by 1758, to Eleanor Harbin. He was in the Loudoun County tax lists in 1765, and as his land was not all tillable, it was not enough to support his growing family and no doubt he was preparing to move. No record was found of the sale of his land, but on the first of June, 1770, he bought 100 acres of land in Orange County, N.C. from Daniel Adams for 50 pounds. He must not have been satisfied in Orange County, as on 25 December, 1778 he paid the State of N.C. 50 shillings for each 50 acres of land. He bought 150 acres on the big Ranch of Beaver Creek, in Wilkes County, N.C. Several families of Fergusons lived close to William and 6 of his children married Fergusons. William Triplett was said to have 2 older sons, Micajah and Nimrod, who with their father, lost their lives during the Revolution, about 1782. Eleanor signed a Bond as Administrix of her husband's estate 28 January, 1784. Her name was written there as Elonar, but in other records as Eleanor. It was also signed by Thomas Harbin, who was thought to be her brother. Her father was William Harbin and she lived to be 109 years of age William and Eleanor were the parents of 11 children. She was in the 1830 census as over 100, but was not in the 1840 census of Wilkes County N.C. She was supposed to be age 109 at her death.
