Obituary WILLIAM HAROLD TOWSLEY, 96 William Harold Towsley, 96, died Friday, March 7, 2008, at his home in Charlevoix. Harold was born on April 26, 1911, in East Jordan, the son of Amos and Harriet (Murphy) Towsley. At an early age, Harold's family moved to Charlevoix. As a youngster, he had worked on the Loeb Farm near Charlevoix. As a boy, Harold also delivered ice in the summer and coal in the winter. On April 10, 1937, in Charlevoix, He married Mary Perry and raised four children. He had worked for the City of Charlevoix for many years as a diesel engine operator in the power plant. He retired in 1973. Harold enjoyed music and played the guitar, harmonica and fiddle. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Harold's true love was gardening and storytelling. Harold is survived by his wife, Mary Towsley, of Charlevoix; four children, Vera (Larry) Towsley Edison of Cedar Springs and Texas, Allan (Loretta) Towsley of Charlevoix, Roger (Betty) Towsley of Sand Lake and Stanley Towsley of Eckerman; six granddaughters; eight grandsons; five great-granddaughters; 19 great-grandsons; five great-great-granddaughters; eight great-great-grandsons; numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Calvin Towsley and two brothers, Carol Ray Towsley and Gordan Towsley; and one daughter-in-law, Vicki Towsley. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix. The Rev. Nancy Rohde will officiate with interment at Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday, March 13, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Michigan, P.O.
