[From Old Farmer's Almanac published by Robert Bailey Thomas]
"My grandfather, was a native of Wales (Eng.), and born there of an opulent family, and received a liberal education at Christ's College, Cambridge. It seems he emigrated to this country somewhere about the year 1718. Tradition says he, with other brothers, came first to Stonington, Conn.; of this I shall not undertake to say. It is well known that he came to Marlborough, Mass., sometime about the year 1720, and married Lydia Eager, a daughter of a respectable farmer of Shrewsbury, and resided in Marlborough until he died in 1733, two years after which my grandmother died. He had two sons and four daughters."
