  4.   Source:Stratton, Harriet Russell. Book of Strattons is very sparse in its description of William, providing us basically with only what the gravestone tells us. In particular, it says nothing about any marriage. Since there is a marriage record for a William Stratton to a widow Elizabeth Smith, and since the gravestone of Elizabeth Stratton, wife of William, has an age that matches very well the birth date of Elizabeth Lombard who married Moses Smith, it is pretty clear that Elizabeth married a William Stratton, and very likely it was the same William Stratton since they are both buried in the same cemetery. The complete lack of any signs of another William Stratton even close in age is striking. Only William, s/o Peleg, b. 1773, shows up in Source:Athol, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records of Athol, Massachusetts, to the End of the Year 1849 during the same century, and he is clearly too young to match either the marriage or death record.
