"61 William Stanley. (1 Timothy, 5 Caleb. 30 Caleb.) Fourth son of Caleb Stanley, the Secretary, of East Hartford, died in East Hartford, March 24, 1767. He married, April 29, 1736, Clemence, daughter of Nehemiah and Clemence (Hosmer) Olmsted, who died June 8, 1782, aged sixty-eight. … William Stanley was one of the first of the name who moved east of the Connecticut river; probably a clothier by trade. Inventory £1037. 12. 6. Large surveying book, 2s., clothier's shears, 40s., homested, with all the buildings except the shop, £220. Tainter bars, 20s., old plate, 20s."
