William3, (Andrew2, Edward1), b. Aug. 3, 1688, in Chelmsford, Mass. There is no account of the death of this William, and no mention made of him in the will of his father. As the records of the family of Deacon Andrew are quite full and minute, we infer that William lived to grow up, and followed his uncles and cousins into Connecticut, and received his portion of his father's estate when he left home. We have no definite knowledge of him nor of his wife. He is the first William among the early Spaldings. From a comparison of names and dates, we are confident he had a son Elijah.
