    William Smith was born in Columbiana County, Ohio Sept. 7, 1820 and died in Noble County, March 14, 1900. On Nov. 19, 1844 he married Amelia Ferrall. She died Oct. 21, 1846, leaving one daughter, who died Nov. 22, 1875. On Nov. 28, 1850 he married Mary Anne Saunders, who survives. They had 3 children, John G., Elisabeth, Metilla and Ella. John died Sept. 30, 1876 and Metilla died May 2, 1896, thus leaving one surviving child, Mrs. T. P. Kesler. He moved to Noble County Aug. 1859, settling on the farm where he resided until his death. Funeral at the Jefferson Twp residence March 16. Burial, Sweet Cemetery.
