Mr. William Max Shirley, 78, of 1391 Wilkinsville Highway, died July 10, 2002, at his residence.
Born in Albertville, Ala., he was a son of the late Wesley Newton and Dell Treadaway Shirley. He retired from textile engineer for Milliken, Inc., was a member of The Kiwanis Club, and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. He was a graduate of Auburn University, and was a member of Draytonville Baptist Church and the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors: Wife, Hilda Parris Shirley, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Madge Shirley Patterson and Barry Patterson of Gaffney, and Suzanne Shirley Pedersen and Jimmy Pedersen of Yonges Island; a sister, Helen Shirley Spurlin, of Albertville, Ala.; grandchildren, Reed Patterson, Jay Patterson, Julia Pederson, Helen P. Jones and Jim Pederson.; and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by a brother, Lt. Col. Courtney R. Shirley.
Visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Draytonville Baptist Church. Service: 4 p.m. Friday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery. The Rev. Todd Braswell and the Rev. Robert Ivey will officiate.
