William Marion Shadix married Mary Robertson. They are the parents of 13 children: William Daniel, John Adams, Sarah Adaline, Robert Washington, Mollie, Marion Thomas, George Franklin, Nancy, Henry Taylor, James Andy Cicero, Ella Lee, Emma Elizabeth and Wheeler Clay.
After her death in 1889 W M Shadix married Elvina Matilda Lanier in 1891, their 7 children: Morris Lonnie, Effie Mae, Maggie Nola, Joseph Clarence, Walter Marvin, Beulah and Louis Avery Shadix.
William Marion Shadix was a Confederate Veteran of the Civil War, a private in Company A, 7th Regiment Alabama Calvary. He enlisted at Randolph, Alabama May 25, 1863 and was paid forty cents a day for riding his own horse. He was taken prisoner Dec 15, 1864 near Nashville, Tennessee and was sent to Camp Douglas at Chicago, Illinois. He was discharged June 20, 1865. He lived to age 93.
