1884 - Living in North Elmham when he married. Baker, corrected from labourer, on certificate.

1891 - With wife, and four children of this marriage in Bintree. Baker, confectioner, grocer in the main street of the village, with step-daughter Emma working as his assistant.

1901 - Living in Bintree with wife and seven children. Grocer and baker, working at home on his own account (and apparently employing his son Herbert).

1904 - Listed in Kelly's Norfolk Directory as a shopkeeper and baker in Bintree.

1908 - Again listed in Kelly's Norfolk Directory as a shopkeeper and baker in Bintree.
