In Carbondale, Jackson Co., Ill., Aug. 9th, 1870, of paralysis, Wm. Bliss Saunders. He was born in Hopkinton, R. I., May 21st, 1794, and was consequently aged 76 years. With his parents, he removed to Brookfield, N. Y., when he was two years old. At that place he made a profession of religion and united with the 1st Seventh-Day Baptist Church of Brookfield, under the ministry of Eld. Wm. B. Maxson. He went West in November, 1866, and with his family settled in the place of his death. In 1844, he was reclaimed from a state of religious backsliding, in which he had been for a number of years. Since that time, he has been a consistent Christian, and faithful witness for the Lord's Sabbath, and died resigned to death, with good hope of a blessed resurrection through our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time of his death, he was still a member of the 1st Brookfield Church. He died at the house of his son-in-law, Mr. Hewitt; and the Rev. Mr. Fish. a Presbyterian minister at Carbondale, preached the funeral sermon. "The memory of the just is blessed."
