In Berlin, N. Y., March 9th, 1873, of asthmatic consumption, Mr. William Satterlee, aged 65 years. Another of the old members of our little church has fallen before death's onward march. Thirty-nine years ago, by his venerated father, he was received into the fellowship of this church. But few of the component members of the church of that time remain, and these will soon be gone.
Over thirty years, Bro. Satterlee had been a sufferer, and in feeble health. As his last days approached, clouds came with them. Not as he had imagined, came death to him. The surprise was brief. Jesus, too, was there. For a while he looked at the dark waters, then, casting all fear away, with the prayer of sinking peter upon his lips, he followed his glorious leader through to the banks on the other side. His affectionate wife and children watched and waited around his dying bed, but they had no power over the spirit to retain it.
