"Rowlandson, William. He m. (1) abt. 1695, Elizabeth, widow of Benjamin Banks, and dau. of Richard Lyon. The name in print has usually been converted into Robinson, but in Banks probate records is spelled Rolison, and in Col. Rec. he is called Rowlandson of Fairfield. He m. (2) by 1704, Sarah Coley, dau. of Peter, b. abt. 1668. Mary and Elizabeth Rowlandson were bapt. at Fairfield, evidently as infants or children, 15 July 1722; Elizabeth m. 24 Mar. 1747/8, John Clugston. In 1737 the poor widow Rowlandson received £10 'out of charity' by the will of David Banks. Presumably she was mother of Mary and Elizabeth."
