Mr. Thomas Powell of Llivior, Queen's Park Gardens, Bournemouth, who supplied this pedigree to Montgomeryshire Collections, speculates that William's father may have been Arthur Powell, the son of Hugh Powell of Ednop. The editor expresses some scepticism that the deed on which this speculation is partly based refers to the Cilgwrgan Powells.
