PILGRIM - The death of Mr. William Pilgrim age 86 years of Frank Eliason Centre, formerly of 1308 33rd Street W., Saskatoon and of Asquith, Saskatchewan occurred on Sunday, May 29, 1977. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 1st at 1:30 p.m. from First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. William Wood. (In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Pilgrim.) Left to cherish his memory are: five daughters, <names of living individuals have been removed>; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Bella Clarke, Westfield, Mass. U.S.A. Mrs. Annie Podd, Ottawa, Ontario, Mrs. Sara Dengis, Swift Current, Mrs. Esther Durst, Beamsville, Ontario, Mrs. William Schimmens (Martha) of Haleys, Ontario; two brothers, John of Westfield, Mass. and Harvey of Haley's Ontario. He was predeceased by his wife, Annie on November 3, 1971, and a brother Ed in March 1977. Mr. Pilgrim was born in Radcliffe Township, Renfrew County, Ontario on September 6, 1890. He came west to Tregarva, Saskatchewan in March 1912 and then to Asquith that same month. On February 15, 1916 he married Annie Weber and settled on a farm south of Asquith where they resided and farmed until coming to Saskatoon in 1965. Mr. Pilgrim was a Charter Member and a faithful worker of the Avondale Baptist Church, Asquith (sic.) He served as Deacon of that church for 43 years as well as being Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. He was a Trustee of Fairholme School District No. 4225 for 41 years, an active member of the Avondale Woodlawn Cemetery Committee and a director of the Delisle Telephone Company. He was one of the first members of the Asquith Wheat Pool, receiving a 50 year membership award in 1974. After retiring to Saskatoon Mr. Pilgrim became a member of First Baptist Church, Saskatoon. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon. Saskatoon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (Friends attending the service may use the parking area south of the Saskatoon Funeral Home on 4th Avenue at 25th Street.
