William Henry Nix 26 Nov 1882 White Not Stated, Hunt, TX

William Henry was the oldest son of Miles Jennings and Sarah Elizabeth Freeman, and the grandson of Jennings Nix and his second wife, Temperance (Tempy) Poole Ellison. He was born in Blount County Alabama and was a young teen when Miles moved his family from North Alabama to Texas between 1891 and 1896. It appears they moved several times in Texas before settling in Floyd, Hunt County. This is a small town located on Highway #380 about 30 miles Northeast of Dallas. William was 36 years old when he registered for the draft at Hunt County Board No 2 in Wolfe City, Texas where he was described as: Height - Medium, Build - Stout, Eyes - Gray and Hair - Black. He listed his occupation as farming. William had a younger sister named Maud, who was the last child born to the family in Alabama. After they reached Texas William met and married another Maud. Also his wife had the same maiden name as three of William's aunts ; Holden. The three aunts were sisters from a family in Pickens South Carolina, but no connection has been made between the aunts and his Texas wife, or the naming of his sister and his wife. William died in 1964 and his wife Maud died in 1942. Both are buried at Restland Cemetery in Bishop, Nueces County, Texas. This is over a hundred miles South of their original home in Hunt County.
