The will of William Newman in 1676 named three sons, Thomas, Daniel and John, of whom John died before probate of the will, and three daughters, Sarah, Elizabeth and Hannah. The son Daniel Newman died in 1695, leaving a widow but no children, and the heirs, Thomas Newman, David Waterbery, Incres Holly and John Holly, as their names are spelled, made a distribution agreement. Since the marriages of Elizabeth and Hannah Newman, to Increase Holly and John Holly respectively, are found on record, it follows by elimination that it must have been Sarah Newman who married David Waterbury.
