    Obituary for William Moorhouse:

"WILLIAM H. MOORHOUSE, who died Friday afternoon at his residence, 3741 Grand boulevard, had filled a prominent place in the business community of Chicago for thirty-seven years. Mr. Moorhouse was born in Glenham, N. Y., in 1834, and at the age of 26, in 1860, came west. He lived a few years at Elkhorn, Wis., and a year at Milwaukee. In 1863 he married Miss Frances Farrar of Elkhorn, and in 1866 came to Chicago. Soon thereafter he became a member of the firm of Spaulding & Merrick, the wholesale manufacturers of tobacco, and remained a partner in that firm until it became a corporation a few years ago, when he was made president of the company, a position he filled until about a year ago, when the business was sold to an eastern corporation. Mr. Moorhouse is survived by a widow, a son, William R. Moorhouse, manager of the present Spaulding & Merrick company, and a daughter, Miss Fannie Sybil Moorhouse. Mr. Moorhouse was for thirty years a member of Christ Reformed Epoiscopal church."
