I am researching the Nobletts/ primarily in VA/NC. For those of you researching James Meredith Sr. and sons, namely William, I found the following documented by the Surry Co. Genealogy Association, in their Journal, Vol 19, Book 1, Spring 1999: p. 28:

States: . . .James Meredith Sr. had resided in Lancaster [org 1651], Louisa [org 1742] and Goochland Co. (org 1728] , VA before coming to Surry Co. NC.

He m. Mildred Bagby (Begly). James died in 1790 and his wife died in 1796. They both died and are buried in Surry Co., NC.

Their children are William, James Jr., John, Samuel, Mary and Daniel.

Their son William m. Rebecca Noblett in Surry 17 Aug. 1792 and died ca. 1825 Adair co., Ky. William and his brother James Jr. were in the Rev. War. William was a sheriff, JP, and a school teacher in Surry Co.. . .

Rebecca Noblett was the widow of John Noblett and this was her second marriage.
