    William Brown Mebane was born in 1772 at Orange Co., North Carolina. He was the son of William Mebane and Jane Abercrombie. William Brown Mebane married Frances Woods on 16 January 1791 at Orange Co., North Carolina. William Brown Mebane married Rebecca Rainey, daughter of Benjamin Rainey, on 12 January 1802 at Orange County, North Carolina. (Note: it was this William's FATHER that married Rebecca Rainey, from other sources).
    William Brown Mebane died in 1840 at Hawfields Church, Alamance Co., North Carolina.
