William Mayfield (1848-1917) married Mary Ellen Elam (1859-1917) 28 Dec 1876 in Bond Co, IL. They had 7 children. William and Mary died days apart.

    William Mayfield, died at his home six miles north of Mulberry Grove, January 28, 1917. Mr. Mayfield was born on a farm near the place where he died and had always lived in that vicinity. He is survived by his widow, who was Miss Mary Elam prior to her marriage and by three sons, John of Maros, and Edward and Jerry, who live at home and by three daughters, Mrs. Martha Jett, wife of Emery Jett of Donnellson, Mrs. Sarah Walker, wife of Louis Walker of near Mulberry Grove and Mrs. Jane Walker, wife of Edward Walker of Maros. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Louis Stewart of Gillham.
