William lived on Lawrence Creek in Kentucky with his parents, until 1812, when Thomas and Rebecca moved to Liberty Twp in Adams County, Ohio. He grew to maturity and married August 30, 1821, in Adams County, Ohio, Jemima Thomas, daughter of Rees Thomas.
William was a farmer and cooper by trade. On April 24, 1826, William bought property from Rees Thomas and, on June 8, 1836, sold 14 1/4 acres to John S Beasley. On February 4, 1841, they sold 9 3/4 acres of land lying on the east fork of Eagle Creek, Adams County to Robert Elder - Jemima joining in the signing of each deed. In 1850, they were still living in Liberty Twp, Adams County, Ohio with their family.
