Hi Jim,

I have a couple of things to add which you may or may not know about.

In the Athens, McMinn County newspaper of Fri. March 1, 1844 - "just before Circuit Court Rhea County public Sale in Washington 5, February 1844 for cash all right and interest that Andrew Lowe has and to all(?) acres of land in Rhea County on the waters of the Piney River, adjoining lands of John Cool and others including the plce where William A. Witten now lives. Also interest that Anthony Robinson has in and to, 154 acres of land, on the waters if Piney and Wolf creek, including where Robinson now lives, all of said lands levied on to satisfy two judgements which James Lauderdale recovered against William A. Witten, Andrew Lowe, James Witten, John Riggles, and Anthony Robinson in the Circuit Court of Rhea County " I also have the date Dec 10, 1843 written down, but I'm not sure why. The film was backwards on the reel, and I was having an awful time reading it, so I may have a date wrong. They sent the film back to have it put on correctly. It was supposed to haqve been sent back to us, but that was last spring, and I haven't seen it yet. It's just as well because I haven't had time to get down there.

The other is information on #2 Lowe Public Cemetery which was in a book called Watts Bar Reservoir Cemeteris by James L. Douthat put out by Mountain Press in Signal Mountain, TN This cemetery was moved before they flooded the area to make Watts Bar Reservoir. The WPA mapped it and recorded information on the markers. When I was in Nashville a couple of years ago, I found the same information, but it also told where the graves had been reburied. I have it somewhere, but I can't find it right off. Anyway, I'm going to write it as they have it in the book.

"Located on the right bank of the Piney River at mile 3.0 approximately 1.0 miles southeast of Rhea Springs, Tennessee as shown on Land Map 10 N 7, tract number 1031. Contains 115 graves Thirty-five removal and three remain agreements were executed. ----The nearest surviving relatives of the known graves are W. Whitten Lowe, Fort Dodge Road, Dodge City, KS and W.O. Lowe, Union Bldg, Knoxville, TN. We have not been able to execute any agreement with the above for the members of the Lowe family, tocomplete operations, it will be necessary to do so. We are unable to identify the other graves or locate any surviving relatives and believe it necessary to class them as unkown and leave them undisturbed.

There are others (non Lowes) listed, but none of the names seem to match any you had, and it was a public cemetery. I knew I copied this for a reason, but it took me a while to find it.
