Lindsay, William (1762-1848)
House, 17th General Assembly, 1827-29, representing Knox and Anderson counties; party lines not drawn at that time but became a Whig later. Born in Virginia July 4, 1762;son of Matthew Lindsay, native of Scotland; name of mother, exact place of birth, and extant of schooling not determined.
Married, date and place not indicated, to Mary Storm, native of Virginia, daughter of Cornelius and Nancy (Hale) Storm: two sons-Conrad S. and J.S. Lindsay. Came to Campbell County from Virginia in April 1824; moved to Knoxville, Knox County, in time to represent that county in legislature;engaged variously in merchandising, farming, and building iron forges. A Justice of the Peace; held rank of major in militia. Member Babtist Church. Died in 1848; exact time of death and place of burial not indicated.
