1850 (October) census-age 22, laborer, living with father John Jordan and his wife Sarah an d their family. 1851-Was 29 when he married in Nov . 1860 (July) census-age 32, wheelwright, owned $40 real estate and $100 value personal estate with wife Mary(Wade) and children Robert and Mary and his Mother Sarah Jordan. 1870 (August) census-age 40, wheelwright, with wife Mary (Lopez) and 5 children. 1880 (June) census- age 50, wheelwright and blackmith, with wife Mary (Lopez) and 6 children. 1888-90 Richmond City directory- listed as a wheelwright at 3816 6th Street, Rocketts alphabetically ahead of son Winston - blacksmith 1898-died Obituary (from the Richmond Dispatch-Thursday April 21, 1898) states he died at the home of his daughter, 1300 West Broad Street at 70 years of age. and is survived by 3 son s and 3 daughters; Winston H, Ernest E, Miles P, Mrs. Josephine Jones, Mrs Annie Martin, Miss Lizzie Jordan. He was a well known wheelwright and carried on the business for many years in Fulton, native of Henrico. Mistakenly listed as William N. Jordan Per Oakwood Cemetary: Division D, Section D, Lot 29, Quarter 2, Oakwood Cemetery is the location of record. Original owner, William M. Jordan, purchased 5/31/1894. Lot transferred to Josephine Jones on 4/22/1897; transferred to Thomas E. Tyree September 22, 1954. Prolific man, he had children with all four wives,1,7 (#5 of which is my ggrandfather Winston Hamley Jordan),5,3, for a total of 16 children (that we can find/)!!!
