    WILLIAM W. IRVIN came to Lancaster about the same time as General Beecher. He was a member of the Ohio Legislature and while yet a young man was elected a judge of the Supreme Court of Ohio. Later in life he succeeded General Beecher as a member of Congress. He has a long and honorable career, and left behind him a good name.

    The wife of Judge Irvin was Elizabeth Gillespie, a sister of Mrs. Boyle and of Mrs. General Beecher.
