"/11/ William Fessenden (b. 1694, Cambridge, Mass.) … Most accounts and also old family records give the occupation of William Fessenden as carpenter; he apparently also lived on the old homestead, and, as was frequently the case in those days, operated the farm. But Paige, in his 'History of Cambridge' states that 'William Fessenden … owned a farm (in Cambridge). He was by occupation a tanner.' In 'The Book of the Lockes' his occupation is given as carpenter, and reference is made to both his marriages. William Fessenden died May 26, 1756; … probably buried in the 'Old Burying Ground' at Cambridge; William Fessenden's gravestone there was still easily legible in 1940."
