  4.   Source:Butler, Caleb. History of the Town of Groton, Including Pepperell and Shirley, from the First Grant of Groton Plantation in 1655, p. 400, says William d. 14 Feb 1754, and such a death record appears in Groton VRs. But it appears Mr. Butler was fooled by William, Jr.'s relocation to Shirley and the consequent cessation of records into thinking this applied to William Jr., when he clearly lived past this, as shown by multiple events (births of children, deeds, will). The date probably applies to the father, William Sr., whose wife died a widow in 1756. (Curiously, in applying this date to the father, Farwell cryptically says "according to some authorities", without explaining his apparent doubt of what seems like an obvious match.)
