William Everitt was baptised on 9th December 1819 at Leadenham in Lincolnshire, son of a carpenter called Michael Everitt and his wife Jane.

The 1841 census finds William working as a joiner in the nearby city of Lincoln. By 1848 he had returned to Leadenham. On 22nd May 1848, aged 28, he married Ann Ward there. They went on to have three children at Leadenham between 1849 and 1853, although their youngest daughter died in 1854 when she was only one year old.

Each census from 1851 to 1891 finds William and Ann living in Leadenham. William was described variously as a labourer, carpenter and joiner.

Some time between 1891 and 1895 William and Ann left Leadenham and moved nearly forty miles north-east to Louth, where their daughter had settled. Ann died there in 1895, when she was said to be either 80 or 81 years old.

William appears in the 1901 census living with his daughter and her family at 50 Westgate in Louth. William died at Louth on 25th October 1909, aged 89. He left an estate of £1775, which was left to his daughter and son.
