William came to Johnson Co., Kansas bought a farm and then returned to Ohio for his family. They came back on the train, bringing a team of horses. When they arrived in Westport he bought a new wagon for the trip to Stanley. He was a veteran of the Civil War of Company H, 62nd, Ohio, Vol., Inf.
