William E. "Bill" Dodd, 86 of Cerro Gordo, IL, died 11:13 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Decatur Memorial Hospital
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Saturday, July 5,2014, at Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, Cerro Gordo, IL, with visitation two hours prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL, with military rites conducted by Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #117. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo, IL, will be handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #117. Bill was born December 5, 1927 in Cerro Gordo, IL, The son of William N. and Edith I (Sites)Dodd. He married Holistine "Holly" Griffin on June 16, 1951.
Bill was a member of Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church. He worked as a pipefitter and maintenance foreman for A. E. Staley for 40 years. Bill was a village trustee for 25 yrs. and past commander and member of American Legion Post #117. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Holly of Cerro Gordo, IL. 2 daughters, 1 son. 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. Sisters Betty DeVore of Hammond, IL, LaVerne Aeschleman of Chillicothe, IL.
Preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
