Capt. William E. Cook, celebrated his 99th birthday, Jan. 26, 1896. He was born in Portsmouth, R.I., 26 Jan 1797. William Earl Cook was united in marriage to Eunice Sherman of New Bedford, MA. She died 20 Dec 1890, in her 91st year. They shared 70 years of marriage. There are eight grandchildren living, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was made a Mason in St. Albans Lodge of Bristol in February 1819 and at the time is the oldest Mason in the United States.
