CENSUS

1900 Perry Twp, INWilliam Clutier, age 45 was born in March of 1855 in Ohio. His father was born in Ohio, his mother, New Jersey. He was a machine operator. He was married 16 years, with no children. His wife, Clara, age 38, was born in October, 1861, in Indiana.

1910 Fort Wayne, INWilliam Clutter [American spelling] was living at 1002 Columbia, Fort Wayne. He was age 55, married 25 years and was working as a truant officer for the city of Fort Wayne. Clara, his wife, age 48 was born in Indiana. A neice, May Clutter, age 12 was living with them. She was born in Indiana and in school.

1920 Fort Wayne, INWilliam was age 60 [age not reported correctly] and was working as a salesman. He reported his father being born in Ohio, his mother, Virginia. His wife, Clara was age 58. May, age 21 and single, is now reported as a daughter.

1893/94Clara M. Clutter, profession "Hotel", lived on one acre in section 17 valued at $785. They lived in Perry Township, Huntertown postoffice.

1899William M. [there were no other William Clutters so perhaps the initial was just recorded incorrectly] was living on land valued at $125 in Perry Township, Huntertown Postoffice. His profession was listed as "personal".


OBITUARY William M. Clutter, aged 77, died at 1:15 a.m. today at his residence, 1002 Columbia Avenue. He had been seriously ill during the past week. Mr. Clutter was baliff in the Allen County Commissioners' Court at the time of his death and had been a deputy in the county clerk's office under W.A. Johnson and also had been a deputy sheriff. A lifelong resident of Indiana, the deceased had come to Fort Wayne from Huntertown in 1908. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, the Masonic Lodge and Fort Wayne Consistory, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Masonry. Surviving are the wife, Carrie; a daughter, Mrs. L.J. Suelzer, of Fort Wayne; a brother, Dr. T.J. Clutter, of Mentone; a niece and two nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the residence and at 2 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Cathedral with Dr. Arthur J. Folsom officiating. Burial in the Huntertown Cemetery.
