William Buttenshaw’s origins have yet to be established. His first confirmed sighting is on 3rd June 1799, when he married Ann Meakins at Woburn in Bedfordshire. They went on to have a daughter called Hannah, who was baptised at Woburn in October 1801. The family has yet to be traced after Hannah’s baptism; presumably they moved to a different area.
