"1. William Brooks was one of the first settlers of Milford arriving in 1639 (but not a free planter) having lot #60 consisting of 3 acres on the west side of West Town Street. He was admitted to the church 11 June 1648 in Milford. Bridget, wife of William, admitted 8 September 1644. She died 23 June 1663. MVR record states that William Brooks died 1684, although, one record states that he was dismissed to Fairfield, Conn. There is nothing more to be found about him. Milford Vital Records state Sarah died 5 June 1703 [another record says 5 June 1709] ae 88. Like Robert Treat he was not called a free planter for the reason that he was not 'In church fellowship' in 1639."
