"Sarah Lowell5 Hazen … married second, at St. John, 21 Jan. 1802, (Judge) William Botsford, born at New Haven Conn., 29 Apr. 1773, died at Sackville, 8 May 1764 [editorial error for 1864], son of Amos and Sarah (Chandler) Botsford. … Judge Botsford was graduated at Yale College (B.A., 1792; M.A., 1796) and was the last survivor of his class. He was admitted to the bar in 1795, and settled in St. John. He was Judge of the Vice-Admiralty Court, 1803-07, when he resigned and retired to the homestead in Sackville. On his father's death in 1812 he succeeded to the representation of the County, and was Speaker of the Assembly, 1817-23. In 1817 he was appointed Solicitor-General. In 1823 he was promoted by royal authority to the Executive and Legislative Council, and was elevated to the Supreme Court Bench. In 1845 after his hearing had become impaired, he resigned and devoted himself to agriculture.
