    Final rites were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the VanNatta Funeral Home for Mrs. Sarah Maitland Beardsley, 87, who diedFriday morning at the Glidden Hospital in DeKalb, where she had been apatient since the previous Sunday. Mrs. Beardsley had been in failinghealth for a number of years. The Jehovah Witnesses were in charge ofthe services and burial took place in the Ohio Grove Cemetery.

    She was born in Ontario, Canada, May 6, 1867, the daughter of James andSarah Maitland, she being the youngest of 16 children. She came toSycamore with her parents, when but two years old and grew to matureyears here. In 1906, she was married to William Beardsley of Elgin.They resided in Sycamore for a number of years, later moving to Genoa,and living there until Mr. Beardsley’s death in 1945, when Mrs.Beardsley returned to Sycamore and made her home with her daughter, Mrs.Jesse Gardner and family. She possessed kindly traits of character,which acquired for her many friends, down through the years.

    Surviving her death are her daughter, Mrs. Jesse (Sarah) Gardner of thiscity, Mrs. Dorothy Gardner Terheum of New Orleans, La., and Mrs. SadieGardner Hubbard of Sycamore, also four grandchildren, sixgreat-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, one brother,Henry Maitland, 96, of Beloit, Wis., and several nieces and nephews,including Lester and George Maitland of Sycamore.

    William Centenial (sic) Beardsley 68 years of age passed away at 2:30o'clock Tuesday afternoon at his home on Sycamore Street in Genoa. Thecause of his death was a heart attack and death came shortly after hewas stricken.

    He was born August 9, 1877 in Oxford, New York, and lived there for fiveyears then moving to Elgin.

    In November 1906 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Sarah Maitland. Theylive in Elgin, Chicago and then resided in Sycamore for 15 years. Fouryears ago they bought a home in Genoa and have resided there since.

    Mr. Beardsley at the age 'of 14 began his lifes work. He was anelectrician for 54 years. He is survived by his wife, one step daughter,Mrs. Jesse Gardner of Sycamore, three grand children and two great grandchildren, and a sister. Mrs. Edna Dahl of Elgin. A twin brother and 4sisters preceded him in death.

    Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from theKebil Funeral home in Sycamore. With the Rev. R. E. Bethardsofficiating. Burial will be in the Ohio Grove Cemetery.
