[idahojo.ged] According to "Ancestry of Allen Grinnell Cleaver and Martha Irene Jessu p" compiled by William Jessup Cleaver and published by Gateway Press in 19 89: " William Thomas Beals was a soldier in Cromwell's horse guard and w as rewarded with land in Ireland. It was here he converted to Quakerism b efore he emigrated to Pennsylvania where it has been said he died thou gh no record of his death has been found. From research by Bill Putm an we find the following statement: "i am not certain if Willilam ca me to America or not, but several other Beals histories indicate he ca me to America and died in PA. A great many Quakers from Yorkshire, Engla nd came to settle in Fenwick's Colony in what is now Gloucester Co., NJ ju st across the Delaware from Philadelphia."
