William Bedford Barney, son of Commodore Joshua and Anne (Bedford) Barney. He was one of the first officers in the U.S. Marine Corps, a Major of Dragoons in the War of 1812 and later Naval Officer for the Port of Baltimore. He was U.S. Consul at Trieste; also a member of the Society of Cincinnati.
