1647. Town. William son of Alexander & Elizabeth Baker born 15th - 3rd month. First church. William of Alexander Baker aged about 4 days [baptized] 18 day 2 mo. [Note: clearly either month of birth or month of baptism is wrong., Probably the birth record since baptisms are typically recorded as performed. William was baptized with Mary Jackson 2 days old, and Habbakkuk Turner 5 days old and their births are both recorded as 2nd month.]

- ↑ Torrey lists three marriages to a William Baker of Boston. All three are based on recorded births, and no information is given to identify the William Baker in any of them. It is possible all three belong, after a fashion, to this man.
BAKER, William & Eleanor ---; by 1669; Boston is clearly accepted as this man, as the surviving daughters mentioned in the cited deeds are born to William and Eleanor. BAKER, William & Elizabeth ---; by 1672; Boston is based on the birth of a daughter Love in 1672. No further record of this couple or this daughter is found. It is suspected that Elizabeth is a misrecording of Eleanor. This conclusion appears shared by Thwing, p. 2113. BAKER, William & Susanna ---; by 1681; Boston is based on the birth of a daughter Anna 1 Jul 1681. No further sign of this couple or this daughter has been found. The last mention of Eleanor is the birth of son William 30 May 1680. Thwing has nothing besides the name "William Baker" when identifying the husband of Susanna. Should further evidence come to light, the various marriages and children may move elsewhere, but for now this page is being built assuming the above scenario.
