Case 1514: Baker William, Ips. 1743, Sept. 19.
Will of "William Baker of Ipswich ... Glover: being advance in years", dated 14 Jun 1731, proved 19 Sep 1743, names wife Ann [mentions Agreement before Marriage]; son William Baker; remaining children: Viz: John Baker Sarah Waite Mary Heard Thomaszin Abbee & Margaret Stacey. Son William Baker and Son in Law Daniel Heard to be executors. 3 Feb 1743[/44]: Inventory of Mr William Baker Laite of Ipswich: £581-0-10 old tenor, by Sam'll Waite, Phillip Lord, Aaron Potter. 20 Apr 1744 Received by John Waite & Sarah My wife, Joseph Abbe and Tammazin my wife, our full legacy from will of William Baker Late of Ipswich. Also receipt by John Baker of Ipwich Joyner and Margaret Stacy of Ipswich Widow.
- ↑ William has several transactions with his step-mother Pilgrim (Eddy) (Baker) (Steadman) Eveleth, but they are written as receipts, so his residence is never identified (Suffolk Deed Vol. 23, p. 90 reverse). No executor is named in his brother John's will dated 10 Dec 1678, proved 16 Jan 1678/79, so administration is granted to "his Bro'r W'm Baker now living at Ipswich" (Suffolk Probate 1029). This distinguishes his real identity from many mistaken ones advanced in the literature.
